Livia Sohn with PCO

PCO’s Classics I October 18 Lafayette & October 19 Livermore unites in joy and revelation, the apotheosis of dance of Beethoven Symphony No. 7, the exquisite Ravel La Tombeau de Couperin and the return of phenomenal violinist Livia Sohn in a stunning tour through the eras with Mozart Rondo k.373, Tchaikovsky Serenade Melancolique, and Ravel Tzigane.

Livia Sohn’s prolific career includes performances with renowned US orchestras in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Boston; in Europe with orchestras in Berlin, Budapest, Prague; and internationally in Asia, South America, China, and Africa. Opus Magazine described

Ms. Sohn as,  “a stunning and compelling musician.” The Strad Magazine notes, “Sohn possesses a remarkably lithe and transparent tone of exceptional purity…. Even when under the most fearsome technical pressure at high velocity, every note rings true with pinpoint accuracy.” The Post and Courier adds, “Music-making does not get any better than this.” Ms. Sohn appeared with PCO last year wowing our audiences with the Bruch Violin Concerto #1 and many years before in a fabulous performance of Mozart’s Symphony Duo Concertante.

Her upcoming performance with PCO of Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Ravel is like a three-movement concerto, but with the flair of classical, romantic and modern impressionism all wrapped together. You won’t find a better showcase of versality, flair, and heart anywhere.
