Discover Music – in-school educational assemblies for elementary schools
Each year, more than 6000 elementary students in Livermore, Pleasanton, Hayward and Orinda experience our Discover Music educational assemblies.
Our mixed quintet of flute, clarinet, trumpet, violin and cello assemblies teach music is constructed, varied, can evoke feelings and portray characters and tell stories. Each year a different musical fundamental (rhythm, scales, melody, acoustics, form) is presented in depth. The music selected for this assembly program reinforces the message that all musical genres, from classical to pop to jazz to music from movies, dances and marches, utilize the same basic rhythmic principles. PCO also holds clinics for middle and high school music students and a full orchestra school day matinee open to students of all ages.
